Ive recently seen this film and it is of course excellent. I think they really captured the grim reality, including the boredom (which bobby described as the worst thing about it).
I wish they would have shown a little bit on the other hunger strikers, just as a mark of respect and rememberence and i wish it showed a little more about things on the outside. But then againn the goal of the film was to look at the moral aspects of one mans decision.
All in all its the best hungerstriker film ive seen, better than H3 (by FAR) and better than some mothers son (in most aspects).
They did leave out some things, such as the water cannon being hozed threw the window, the 3 different wardens who would try to break them different ways (and the alcholic warden), and that the window in it, which seemed to be symbolic in the movie, was actualy coverd up in some cells as an attempt to break them.
    I give it 9/10.

A recent BBC radio poll was conducted asking what should be written on Maggie Thatchers gravestone were she to die.
‘Licensed for public dancing’ was the overwhelming response. I wonder why?
Looking forward to this movie, though I have to say topping Terry Georges superb and very courageous ‘Some Mothers Son’ will be difficult.

    Dear Sir/ Madam,

I would like to get some more information about the IRA and the role of Bobby Sands in the organisation.

I am 17 years old and I live in the Netherlands. For my English subject at school I have to give a presentation about the IRA next Tuesday. I can find a lot of information about Bobby Sands and what he did in jail. But for example I can’t find out why they put him in jail and how he became a IRA activist. How does the IRA recruit there memberships? What kind of punnishments does they use, if you betrated a part of the organisation?

I look forward to getting an anwser on my questions, I would appreciate if you can formulate the anwsers in easy English!

    Yours faihfully,

    Adriaan Bovendeert
